Lexington First Anniversary Shoot | Kentucky Wedding Photographer

How has a year passed since Donna and Garret't’s beautiful boho wedding at Asbury Meadows?! Some of my favorite parts of their wedding last year were all of the gorgeous boho details- ALL of them! Garrett’s first look as he saw Donna coming down the aisle was one of the most genuine and emotional moments I’ve witnessed as a wedding photographer. Their reception was so full of energy and fun, and I had such a wonderful time alongside Riley and Paul from Sigler Cinematography. It’s always great to make new vendor friends and this was one of those times!

For their anniversary session, we dodged the rain- BARELY!- to shoot in Gratz Park in Lexington Kentucky. I hadn’t seen them since their wedding last June so it was wonderful to meet up again. I’m so happy that we were able to connect nearly two years ago and be a part of their journey as a couple. Happy Anniversary friends!

Stonewall Resort West Virginia Wedding | Kentucky Photographer

Where to even begin? It was such an honor to photograph Sarah and Ryan’s wedding day. I fell in love with them the first time we met for their pre-wedding consultation. They are two of the kindest people I’ve ever met. They both beamed while telling me about their kids and their love story. Sarah is probably the sweetest person on the planet. Ryan is perfect for her and is such a caring and supportive partner.

It was such a joy getting to meet their family and friends. Everyone agreed that they met each other just when they needed each other most. Their boho decor amongst the beautiful natural views at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke WV was just perfect. One of my favorite moments was when Sarah gifted Ryan his late father’s watch with a brand new band during their first look.

So, so happy for the new Mr. & Mrs. Mayse!

Spring Picnic Session | Prestonsburg Kentucky Family Photographer

The Smiths are such good friends and always a treat for me to photograph! I love watching families grow- especially those so dear to my heart! What a wonderful time photographing them for the first time as a family of five!

We wanted to do something a little different than just an ordinary family session so we made it a little more fun by having a picnic. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed shooting them. OH, and Cora- I promise we’ll have another picnic soon! ;)

Downtown Engagement Session | Pikeville Kentucky Wedding Photographer

Morgan and Ryan’s engagement session was just as beautiful and unique as they are. As soon as I saw them interacting together I knew that they were a perfect match! I loved the easy way that they laugh and enjoy each other’s company.

We began our session in downtown Pikeville taking in the colorful urban scenery. We then moved on to shoot with a vintage truck and beautiful sunset including a Redbud tree in full bloom.

We had such a fun time talking, catching up, and celebrating their love for one another! I’m so excited for their summer wedding. Congrats friends!

In-Home Family Session with the Napiers | Film Photography | Kentucky Lifestyle Photographer

When it’s cold outside, take pictures inside! As I’ve said many times, in-home sessions have a very special place in my heart. I love documenting clients in the spaces where their families grow and their most treasured memories are made. In-home sessions are so casual and pressure free and just an opportunity have me there documenting you loving your people. Winter is a GREAT time to make time for this. These type of sessions go hand in hand with film photography. Can you say nostalgia?!

Fall on Film | Personal Project

Several months ago I decided to pursue learning film photography and OH, am I glad that I did! My love and heart for photography is so fresh and even fuller than before. I’m excited, giddy even about shooting film. The colors and texture of film photos are incredible and can not be matched by digital images. I love opening a new roll of film and loading it. Using a light meter to measure for exposure, and then the sound of the film re-winding after a roll is finished is so fun! Can you tell I’m smitten? I feel like I’m getting back to the roots of the craft, if even a tiny bit, and I love that.

Next year there will inevitably be changes in my business as I review the past year. Film is going to become more and more a part of how I shoot and I’m VERY excited about that and you should be too.

This month, I decided to shoot a “Fall on Film” personal project. I love how it forced me to slow down and look around at my surroundings every day. I hope you love them as much as I do!
