Downtown Engagement Session | Pikeville Kentucky Wedding Photographer

Morgan and Ryan’s engagement session was just as beautiful and unique as they are. As soon as I saw them interacting together I knew that they were a perfect match! I loved the easy way that they laugh and enjoy each other’s company.

We began our session in downtown Pikeville taking in the colorful urban scenery. We then moved on to shoot with a vintage truck and beautiful sunset including a Redbud tree in full bloom.

We had such a fun time talking, catching up, and celebrating their love for one another! I’m so excited for their summer wedding. Congrats friends!

Boho Wedding {Whitesburg} | Lexington Kentucky Photographer

Bristol and Baleigh’s boho Whitesburg wedding was not only beautiful in the (incredible!) details and style- but in the love that they have for each other, Jesus, and their friends and family. It was so wonderful to witness how they incorporated their faith throughout the day. It was woven throughout their vows, prayer, and a short worship service during their ceremony.

The peach color palette was STUNNING and can you believe that all the decor was styled by the bride and her sister?! I loved that Baliegh included her grandfather’s bible as a part of the wedding and I was also able to use a quilt made from his shirts in the detail styling.

There were full hearts and eyes full of tears all throughout the day. This was a special one. I’m so happy for you, Baleigh and Bristol! Congratulations!

Classic Fall Wedding {Lawrenceburg Kentucky} | Lexington Photographer

What a stunning Fall day in Kentucky this was! I stand by my word that Laura and Brian without a doubt had their wedding on the most beautiful Fall day of the year. The weather was warm, the trees were glowing orange, yellow, and red and the light was glorious. It couldn’t have been more perfect for two of the kindest souls I’ve ever met.

Laura and Brian chose The Barn at McCall Springs as their wedding venue. They got ready in a little cottage on site, then said their vows at their home church- St. Lawrence Catholic Church. They then came back to The Barn for their fun reception.

All of their friends and family were bubbling over with joy for them and with them all day long. It was such an honor to be chosen as their wedding photographer. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Wulker!

Whimsical Louisville Wedding {3rd Turn Oldham Gardens} | Lexington Photographer

It’s been one month since Gabbi and Mike’s wedding at Duncan Memorial Chapel and 3rd Turn Oldham Gardens in Louisville, Kentucky and I’m still blown away by all of the beautiful, creative details from their day. The bride and groom worked SO hard putting together really a work of art with so many special touches. One of my favorite details was that the bride’s bouquet included dried pieces of floral from her father’s casket. What a precious way to include and have her father with her on her day. Also, her bridal cape was custom made from a design that she helped to draw up- SO awesome!

I remember nearly a year ago when they inquired and Gabbi gave me a brief idea of their vision. It was one of those moments that I crossed my fingers and hoped that they would choose me because I knew they were super cool and their wedding would be so unique. Their engagement session at Joe Ley antiques is still one of my favorites- and this wedding DID NOT disappoint!

Not only was their wedding day filled to the brim with beauty and creativity- their love for each other is just the best. Gabbi and Mike are best friends in love with each other and I adore that about them. They are the cutest and most perfect match and I could not be happier for them. Congrats friends!

Kentucky Bride Magazine | Volume 10 Issue 2 | Lexington Wedding Photographer

Have you heard?! Liz Terry Photography was published in print for the first time this month and I’m SO excited about it! I picked up a magazine at Target with my work in it. WHAT?

Kentucky Bride Magazine is Kentucky’s only award winning bridal magazine and is distributed at Walmart, Target, Walgreens, Joseph-Beth Booksellers, Barnes & Noble, Kroger and the newsstands in the Lexington, Louisville, and Greater Cincinnati airports.

I was able to meet Kate and Sandy, the mother/daughter duo and owners of Kentucky Bride, this year at the Intentional Workshop- a film focused workshop for wedding photographers. Knowing firsthand what sweet and passionate people are behind the magazine makes being published with them even more special!

Check out my 4 page Styled Shoot feature and 3 page Real Wedding feature below. Be sure to pick up your own copy to get lots of beautiful inspiration for your own wedding!

Countryside Vow Renewal {Lawrenceburg Kentucky} | Lexington Wedding Photographer

Ayna and Saifu are truly two of the most amazing people I've had the opportunity to meet. I had the pleasure of becoming friends with Ayna a little over a year ago at a photography workshop and I'm SO glad that I did! I had heard her speak lovingly of Saifu but had never met him until their vow renewal which took place in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky on Ayna's family farm.

Ayna and Saifu had a very small, yet lovely traditional wedding in Saifu's family home four years ago (to the date of their vow renewal!). They had plans to have a big celebration of their marriage with photos and food and dancing with all their family and friends present at Ayna's favorite place, the family farm. Time and life got in the way and it was never planned. The farm went up for sale last year. While there was still time, Ayna knew she had to celebrate her wonderful marriage, her friends, community, and family all together in the most special place she could think of.

When I left that evening my heart was so full from Ayna and Saifu's love, meeting new friends myself, and being surrounded by their wonderful supportive community. This is what Ayna said about their time together that night:

"As for having a vow renewal, there is really no reason why people can't have one every dang year. They are fun as heck. I love him SO MUCH. We have a great relationship that we are both proud of. Growing with him is one of the greatest joys of my life, and we both love being married. We are best friends. Why on earth wouldn't I want to tell everyone how awesome he is all the time? I basically want to shout it from the rooftops constantly, but no one will let me get on their roof anymore."

"More than just expressing our love for each other though, we both wanted the renewal to be equally about celebrating the amazing people we have in our lives. We love our community and our families so much. We wanted a reason to get everyone together — all the different people we adore — and make something nice for them, you know? We wanted to put our love in the celebration. That's one of the reasons we made all the food! What better way to tell people you adore them and they are important to you, than to make them a meal?"

"In the end, the vow renewal was as much a celebration of place, and people, as it was a celebration of us. The places we live and love in, the people who hold us together and help us grow — they are just as important as our personal love for each other. Ultimately, August 10th was the perfect celebration of love, and community, and place — a renewal of our commitment to all those wonderful parts of our lives, and a look forward into a dang good future."

Mountaintop Sunrise Engagement Session | Whitesburg Wedding Photographer

Channing and Logan are just two of the cutest people alive. They are absolutely perfect together! We all got up super early to drive to the top of Pine Mountain in Whitesburg, Kentucky to catch the sunrise for their engagement session. The early alarm was SO worth it. The drive up the mountain was foggy but dissipated as we reached the top. We we looked out over the view to see the fog rising up in the mountains and my first words were, "wow". It was the perfect place to celebrate their one-of-a-kind love for each other. Congrats you two!

Jason + Michelle's Backyard Ceremony | Lexington Kentucky Wedding Photographer

Michelle and Jason were wed on a family farm on the outskirts of Lexington Kentucky. It was such a special place as Michelle told me that she remembered running through the fields as a child and stealing tomatoes out of the garden. She was able to get ready in a home that she was very familiar with and right on the property as Jason and his guys took their time at a nearby hotel.

They had a small backyard wedding spent with their closest family and friends.

Boho Summer Wedding {Asbury Meadow Bed and Breakfast} | Lexington Photographer

From my very first meeting with Donna and Garrett I knew they were a super special couple. I was counting down the days to their wedding right along with them because I knew it was going to be incredible. I was right, but I wasn't even close to the level of wonderful that this wedding actually was.

The wedding took place at this beautiful and quaint little property- Asbury Meadow Bed and Breakfast in Augusta Kentucky. All of their wedding details were so well thought out and just SO very them. One of my favorite moments of the day was when Donna walked out of the house out onto the ceremony site and Garrett saw his bride for the first time.

I'm not sure there was a dry eye on the property during the reading of their letters to one another. I loved how personal, and drenched in love the ceremony was. Looking around, all of their family members and friends were smiling and just SO happy for the couple of the day.

When it was time to say their I do's Donna lovingly and confidently said she did, and Garrett said that he "absolutely did". The joy on their faces as they were announced and Mr. and Mrs. was unmistakeable. They finished the night dancing and having an absolutely great time full of energy all the way to the end. Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Brown!

Red River Gorge Wedding Barn Styled Shoot | Lexington Photographer

When Chelsea and Heather of Unbridled Beauty asked me to shoot a film for the launch of their new business, I jumped on board! They put together an absolutely stunning styled shoot at the Red River Gorge Wedding Barn and Event Venue in Campton Kentucky. The White Dress of Lexington provided the wedding dress and bridesmaids' gowns while Whitney Irene Designs put together all of the stunning boho style floral pieces. Myself and Amy Wallen Photography documented the day with photo and video footage and I am just in LOVE with the turnout.

Salyersville Church Wedding | Prestonsburg Photographer

Jimmy and Morgan were wed in what I'm convinced has to be the most beautiful church in Salyersville. Their family and friends had such a big part of their day. I was blown away by all the thoughtful details that the bride's family put into the decorating to make their wedding absolutely beautiful and special.

Jimmy and Morgan wanted to go the traditional route of not seeing each other before the ceremony but decided to have a prayer together right before. She did however have a first look with her dad which was so sweet and emotional (and you HAVE to just see the father-daughter dance for yourself).

Jimmy was beside himself to see his bride walk down the isle for the first time. The whole day went beautifully and was filled to the brim with love and faith. Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Meade!

50th Anniversary Surprise Party & Vow Renewal | Kentucky Wedding Photographer

What a beautiful milestone! Bill and Nancy were surprised by their family and friends with an anniversary party celebrating their 50 years of marriage. It took place at the Appalachian Artisan Center in downtown Hindman, Kentucky. I was blown away by the amount of love and care that their family and friends put into this party to make it a special day for the couple of the evening.

Bill and Nancy renewed the vows that they made to each other 50 years ago and spent the evening reminiscing and celebrating the life they have had together.

Red River Gorge Elopement | Lexington Kentucky Wedding Photographer

Red River Gorge is one of my absolute favorite places to photograph. It was so quiet and nice the day that I met Ethan and Maleaha after their private elopement in Lexington to photograph some "just married" portraits of them! Maleaha started out in a short, fun wedding dress and then changed into her mother's wedding dress- which I thought was SO special!  Maleaha has such a classic, vintage kind of beauty and I thought this vintage dress suited her perfectly. Beyond being vulnerable in front of a camera, I think hiking a trail bonds people together. We hiked Rock Bridge Trail all the way around the loop and we definitely had to make a few hand holding trains to keep each other's balance! I've only hiked a few trails at the Gorge, but Rock Bridge Trail is definitely my favorite so far! If you're planning your own elopement in Kentucky, I highly recommend checking out the Gorge!

Antique Shop Engagmement | Louisville Wedding Photographer

Let me just say, I've been waiting on this shoot to take place for months. When Gabby and Michael suggested that we photograph their engagement session at Joe Ley Antiques in Louisville, Kentucky I KNEW it was going to be so unique. We browsed the shop taking in all of the cool items and just had such a great time!

We finished the shoot at Cherokee Park with a more fun and colorful look and some bright orange smoke bombs. This whole shoot is just FULL of their personality and vibe and I love it so much.

Romantic Kentucky Engagement Session | Lexington Wedding Photographer

Jimmy and Morgan met through a mutual friend and hit it off immediately. It was so wonderful to hear their story and meet them in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to celebrate their engagement. Their connection and love for each other was so evident and it was so sweet to see how they so naturally interacted with each other in front of the camera. They are planning a beautiful church wedding in Salyersville Kentucky in June and I can't wait to be there to document it for them!

An Elegant Modern Bride | The Keene Place at Keeneland, Lexington KY

This week Kentucky Bride Magazine hosted a workshop called, The Intentional Workshop. It took place at The Keene Place at Keeneland in Lexington Kentucky. I am SO glad that I signed up to attend because it was absolutely incredible. Callie Manion of Callie Manion Photography, as well as Stephen Wood of Photovision Prints, were the guest speakers. They blew me away with their instruction. Kate and Sandy Daugherty- the publishers of the magazine- were also there to help guide conversation and talk about the publication process at Kentucky Bride. It was also wonderful to meet other Lexington wedding photographers and other wedding professionals in the area!

There were three styled bridal shoots put together by various (amazing) vendors in the area. I would begin describing how beautiful they were, but I'll let you see for yourself! Each bride and set had their own "story" or vibe. The first set is "An Elegant Modern Bride". Be sure to check out the other two sets, A Timeless Southern Bride and A Classic Garden Bride.

Art Inspired Styled Elopement | Lexington Kentucky Wedding Photographer

When I began dreaming up this shoot, I wanted to choose an artwork that inspired me so that I would be able to draw upon the concept and pull out ideas. I came upon a painting called The Lady of Shalott, by William Waterhouse (google it!). As I learned more about the painting I came to find out that it was based on a poem by the same name.

In short, the Lady of Shalott was cursed to live in a tower and never leave or view the outside world except through the reflection in a mirror. A man comes riding by on his horse and when she catches his reflection, she falls in love with him. Even though she knows a curse will fall on her, she must leave and find this man. On her way to him in a boat, she dies from the curse. Her boat floats to his palace and he finds her very beautiful. However, they never get to meet each other.

I was inspired by the tragically beautiful poem, time period, and beautiful tones and colors of the painting which the color scheme is based off of. The tone and mood of the painting and poem are reflected in the shoot, however the couple has a happy ending in this story!

I had such a fantastic group of vendors and support to bring this shoot together and could not have done it without the help of each and every one of them!
